ABOUT US

ReelAbilities Virtual Film Festival: Los Angeles October 16-18, 2020 is a three-day festival that showcases new and classic films, conversations, and artistic programs. ReelAbilities Film Festival: Los Angeles 2020 explores, embraces, and celebrates the diversity of our shared human experience.

All films are presented with full audio description and closed captioning. We will continue to work together with the public (irrespective of ability) to gain a greater appreciation of quality film across abilities. This year’s virtual festival will allow many participants to view the films from the comfort of their own homes, often making it exponentially more accessible.

REELABILITIES NORTH AMERICAN PROGRAM

In 2012, other cities across the country followed New York’s footsteps by hosting ReelAbilities Film Festivals, starting with Cincinnati, Ohio. Since then, ReelAbilities events have been held in over 15 cities across North America. ReelAbilities events have expanded from the U.S. to Canada—and soon Latin America—and take place in many different forms: Film festivals, year round screenings, and special programming that goes beyond film. Since its start, ReelAbilities has consistently received an increasing number of outstanding film submissions from around the globe. The ReelAbilities North America headquarters has recently moved back to NY after operating out of Cincinnati since 2014 by Living Arrangements for Developmentally Disabled (LADD), Inc.

OUR MISSION

ReelAbilities Film Festival is the largest festival in the U.S. dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people with different abilities. Founded in New York City in 2007, the festival presents international and award-winning films by and about people with disabilities in multiple locations throughout each hosting city. Post-screening discussions and other engaging programs bring together the community to explore, discuss, embrace, and celebrate the diversity of our shared human experience.
