ReelAbilities Film Festival Los Angeles Film Committee Application

Now accepting applications for the ReelAbilities Film Festival Los Angeles Film Committee!

We’re looking for enthusiastic film fans who love independent cinema to evaluate submissions with us. We would like to encourage you to apply to become one of our esteemed film curators for the ReelAbilities Film Festival Los Angeles (RAFFLA)!

As a film curator, you will have the most fun and most important aspect of RAFFLA before you: reviewing the film library from ReelAbilities International, considering shorts and features you may know outside the library, and recommending the films that will comprise our festival. Your role and recommendations are critical to our programming process as we know you can recognize filmmaking talent and potential, pointing us towards exciting work to showcase. Once selections have been made, our steering committee will review your recommended film schedule and decide on the final program. Staff will ensure that the films selected are accessible and rights are secured.

REQUIREMENTS

The application is open to everyone over the age of 18 that resides in the Greater Los Angeles area. To become a curator you must meet the following requirements:

• Analyze films critically and objectively.
• Write qualitative evaluations/opinions of submissions.
• Watch and review films regularly and in a timely manner.
• Adhere to the committee’s rules and confidentiality guidelines which will be provided upon acceptance.
• Have a personal understanding or deep interest in the authentic representation of people with disabilities in film.

DEADLINE TO APPLY: July 19, 2024
SCREENING PERIOD: August – December 2024
BENEFITS: Curators can earn a festival pass and monetary stipend.
FESTIVAL DATES: TBD
SELECTION: Spots are limited, and only serious applicants will be considered. Not everyone who applies will be selected to serve on the committee.
